An easy-to-install distribution of the Node.js software, provided as a virtual appliance
Bitnami Node.js Stack is an freely distributed and cross-platform software project that provides an all-in-one solution for installing the Node.js application, as well as all of its runtime dependencies on a personal computer. It is distributed as native installers, a virtual appliance, cloud Images and a Docker container.
What is Node.js?
Installing Bitnami Node.js Stack
Bitnami’s Node.js native installers were packaged using BitRock’s cross platform installer tool. They are available for all GNU/Linux operating systems, as well as for the Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows OSes. To install it, download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture (64-bit or 32-bit), run it and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
Run Node.js on the cloud
Thanks to Bitnami, users will also be able to run the Node.js application on the cloud with their hosting platform or by using a pre-built cloud image for the Amazon EC2 or Windows Azure cloud hosting providers.
Virtualize Node.js or use the Docker container
Besides installing Node.js on a personal computer or run it on the cloud, you can also use it on a virtual machine, using Bitnami’s virtual appliance for VMware ESX, ESXi and Oracle VirtualBox virtualization software. A Docker container will also be available for download on the project’s homepage.
The Bitnami Node.js Module
Unfortunately, Bitnami does not offer a module for the Bitnami LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL and PHP) or MAMP (Mac, Apache, MySQL and PHP) stacks. The Bitnami Node.js Stack product is the only tool that helps you install Node.js and its runtime dependencies on a desktop computer or laptop.
