Participate in dancing competitions with other players in this multiplayer rhythm game that rewards speed and precision
Dancing is either a fun or an embarrassing activity, depending on how good you are at it. In essence, it’s all about rhythm and moving your body according to it, but it doesn’t seem to work for everyone. Thankfully, rhythm can be learned, and it can also be broken down to its basics so that anyone can study it and figure out how to become a dance floor sensation.
Create a character and use it to enter competitions
LoveBeat is a multiplayer dancing game in which you have to react quickly and follow both the rhythm and the instructions on the screen. It may seem simple enough at first, but once the songs start and you realize that you have to move really quickly to avoid disqualification, things get very real. Thankfully, there is a tutorial in place to help you get started, although it doesn’t really prepare you for the real pace of the game.
To begin with, you’ll have to create a character, and it can be a female or a female. The outfit is mighty important as well, and there are a couple of different jackets, skirts and hairstyles to choose. However, if you want something different you’ll have to pay for it, and the outfits you buy do not stay in your account for more than thirty days. This is a pretty disappointing gimmick, and it may turn a few players away.
Enjoy the multiplayer with your friends
In essence, the game is designed to be enjoyed with company, which is why each competition you enter has multiple players slots. You can either host a new server or join an already existing one, depending on your preferences. It is even possible to start the competition alone, if all you want is to learn. Still, the game really shines if you enjoy it with friends, because it can be pretty fun to see all of you dancing together on the stage.
There are multiple game modes to choose from as well, although they all resume to the same thing in the end. As far as the graphics are concerned, they are actually pretty sub par for this day and age, and you also have to make due with a poor resolution. On the other hand, this means that practically anyone can install and play the game, regardless of how new or old their computer is.
An engaging experience with a few issues
All in all, LoveBeat can be a bit too disorienting and difficult for newcomers, especially since nothing prepares you for how fast the songs are. In addition, the song library probably won’t contain any titles you know, unless you happen to be interested in that particular music scene.
