Play as an angel and explore a colorful world in this third-person adventure game
Angels are usually depicted as pure beings of light and holiness, making them pretty difficult to integrate into non-religious stories. On the other hand, warrior angels are common in video games and movies, especially since they are usually quite strong. In addition, they always fight for the good side, so they are a natural go-to when you are dealing with demons and other evil creatures.
Explore a colorful world and unravel its secrets
Lights of Dreams IV: Far Above the Clouds is part of the Lights of Dreams series, and it provides you with the opportunity to play as an angel and explore a large world full of mysteries. Granted, just like the rest of the games in the franchise, this one is pretty simple and unpolished as well, making it pretty difficult to enjoy yourself, but casual players should have an easier time adjusting.
To begin with, your mission is pretty vague in the beginning, even if the game tries to explain the mechanics and the controls with the help of a few pop-ups. Unfortunately, the English used is bad to say the least, so you may have a few problems trying to figure everything out. On the other hand, this is not a very complex game anyway, so you can just start doing things on your own.
Use portals to travel between worlds
The portals are still a vital gameplay ingredient, because they allow you to move from one dimension to the other and explore many possible worlds. It can be very confusing after a while, because there’s no way to mark these portals or know exactly where you are, but it’s all about trial and error. On top of that, the goal is to collect orbs and defeat the bad guys you come across.
The graphics are not bad either, but they are certainly not good. A lot could be improved in the 3D modeling department, since every object and building looks very sketchy, but at least the special effects are pretty nice. On top of that, the level design can be very dull and repetitive, which is not good when you are technically exploring fantasy worlds.
An intriguing idea that needs more work
All things considered, Lights of Dreams IV: Far Above the Clouds could be a great way to spend an afternoon, but it needs more varied content and better graphics. In addition, it’s also a bit too vague when it comes to the gameplay mechanics.
