An easy-to-install distribution of the PrestaShop software, provided as a virtual appliance
Bitnami PrestaShop Stack is a multiplatform and freely distributed project that provides an all-in-one, native installer, virtual machines and cloud Images that greatly simplify the PrestaShop installation and hosting. The product is compatible with all GNU/Linux operating systems and requires minimum knowledge about how to install a database and web server.
What is PrestaShop?
PrestaShop is an open source, full-featured, and cross-platform eCommerce shopping cart application for the Web 2.0 era. It has revolutionized the industry since 2007, by providing 100% free software with innovative functions like multi-store, full Ajax compatibility, and customizable URLs.
Installing Bitnami PrestaShop Stack
Both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms are supported by Bitnami’s native installers for PrestaShop, which can be used on Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. To install the PrestaShop app and all of its runtime dependencies, download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture, run it and follow the on-screen instructions. Yes, it’s that simple to get a fully working PrestaShop installation.
Run PrestaShop on the cloud
Bitnami also provides cloud and VM (Virtual Machine) images for the PrestaShop application, which can be downloaded from the project’s homepage (see link below). While the pre-built cloud images allow you to run PrestaShop on the cloud (Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud services are supported), the virtual machine images are based on the latest version of Ubuntu Linux (64-bit) and allow you to virtualize PrestaShop on VirtualBox or VMware ESX/ESXi.
The Bitnami PrestaShop Module
Besides the Bitnami PrestaShop Stack product reviewed here, Bitnami also provides a PrestaShop module for their LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) product, designed from the ground up to be a lightweight solution for deploying PrestaShop on an existing LAMP server. The Bitnami PrestaShop Module can be downloaded from Softpedia, free of charge.
