Use the accent colors available for the 2021 iMacs on any other Mac, and enjoy the color options designed to match the new devices’ aesthetic
The 2021 M1-powered 24-inch iMacs are available in a variety of vibrant colors, and they come with new accent color options to match their exterior look. Normally, these aren’t accessible to users who have other Macs, but there are still ways to get them.
Accents is a tiny app that lets you use these new system accent colors on any device, not just 2021 iMacs. It features a very simple UI and requires just a couple of clicks to make the modifications.
More accent color options
macOS comes with a fair number of accent colors to choose from, but you can’t customize them other than by selecting a different highlight color. So if you liked the look of the new iMacs and wanted to match it to your desktop, tough luck.
Apple created a few new accent colors to match the exterior design of the latest iMacs, but there are only available on these devices. With this app, you can enjoy them on other devices as well, through a bit of a workaround.
Easily switch your preferred accent color
To make the change, you will need to launch the app and select the new color from its main UI. The options won’t appear in the General prefpane. After enabling one of them, the new color will appear as the last option in the prefpane, but you will still need to launch the app to switch to one of the other 2021 iMac colors.
A preview is displayed in the main UI to give you an idea of how certain elements will look. Keep in mind that you will need to restart any apps that are currently open in order to see the new accent colors. Also, you will only have the old highlight colors available, but one of them should match the new accents quite well.
There really isn’t anything else to say. Whether you have a 2021 iMac and want to have the same UI on all your devices, or you just find the new colors to be appealing, this app makes it very simple to use them on any other Mac.
